Kristin had a pharmacy convention at the Kalahari Resort in Lake Delton Thursday-Saturday (Aug. 27-29). Brian and Braden tagged along and spent most of the days together while Kristin was gone.
On Friday, Brian took Braden to Tanger Outlet, where Braden pooped. This gave Brian his first opportunity to try a Koala changing station (it worked well). In the afternoon, Brian took Braden to both the outdoor and indoor waterparks at the Kalahari. This time, Braden did not cry like he did when we went during Memorial Day weekend.
That night, we had dinner at Del-Bar (in May Braden was fussy the whole time). We were put in a section with two other babies, and Braden was the best behaved we’ve ever seen at a restaurant (also his first time using the high chair).
Saturday unfortunately was chilly (temps in the 50s). We had moved over to the Great Wolf Lodge, where Brian took Braden to the indoor waterpark. Braden seemed to generally tolerate his surroundings, and we can’t wait to return when he’s older and really appreciates it.
Please make sure to check out the photos. We’ll post the accompanying videos soon.

vacation
Braden turned six months old this past Monday–wow, does time fly. The day before his birthday (Sunday), we started him on solid foods. Most of it ended up on his face, as he wasn’t sure how to eat something other than milk. Braden has gotten progressively better at eating throughout the week. We’ll show some video of him eating soon.
To recap the last six months of his development, Braden has learned to:
- Smile and laugh
- Roll over
- Sit
- Grab objects (and put them in his mouth)
- Fall asleep on his own
- Eat
- Not be afraid of taking a bath
Plus, his bottom two teeth are coming in. We can’t wait to see what the next six months bring us (hopefully more sleep).

Braden developed a small cough earlier this week (it’s sorta cute). On Friday it got worse, so we went to see the pediatrician. Turns out he has a small cold. Hopefully it peaks today and that he’ll start to get better. He has been coughing at night while he sleeps, though it doesn’t wake him up.
Braden would probably cough less often if heĀ could just blow his nose, but since he can’t, the drainage into his mouth causes him to cough. Otherwise, he’s in good spirits.

We’ve uploaded some more photos from this month. Check out the gallery called “More April.”

We took Braden to Farmers’ Market yesterday. Brian carried him in the Baby Bjorn carrier in front of his body. Braden fell asleep right away.
We did the baby carrier because we hate those couples who bring their babies in strollers and either 1) Block the entire sidewalk, 2) Bump into you because they’re not paying attention, or 3) Both.
A funny thing: We got some scones for breakfast, and most of Brian’s crumbs fell on Braden. It was pretty cute.

We uploaded some new photos from late March and early April. More smile pics!

We did it! Braden has been smiling from time to time, but we have never been able to get it on film–until tonight. He finished feeding and we put him in his crib, and then he just began smiling randomly as he some times does. Brian ran downstairs to grab the camera, then we had to tickle his cheeks to get him to do it again.
Check out the “Smile!” photo album. It was well worth the wait.

We’ve uploaded some more pics in a gallery called “Weeks 3-4 pics.” You’ll see Braden at the Nitty Gritty on Brian’s birthday, and photos of Braden wearing pants.

Episode 6 is coming soon!

birthday
We took a bunch of photos of Braden a while ago with the intent of submitting one to Brian’s friends at the Onion. They gave us Braden’s first item of clothing–a T-shirt (0-3 months) with the Onion logo on it.
You’ll see in these pics that he doesn’t like to lie still. We even caught him sneezing in one of the photos (very funny).
Currently, the pic of Braden is residing on the Onion’s intranet site (internal only). A screen capture is included in the photo album.
